saya suka belajar melayu! (i like learning malay!)
I’m working now at NUS, helping out with the graduation ceremonies. It’s pretty messy, but they pay good money! $8/hr, and only alternating days, plus you get to meet people and learn how to work with them, but that part doesn’t appeal to me much cos i really dislike socialising.
It’s strange, i wonder how we were like when we were younger. I told you right, my Malay class classmates are of various ages and professions, and it’s very fun!! The teacher is very fun too!! He’s this 60 plus old man who has this mischievous sense of humour. Anyway, recently i got to know some of them better and i walk home with this friend since we live around the same place. He’s younger than us, 20 i think. He does medicine in NUS. But he’s so different from those medicine students i know from church (whom i aspire to marry. The guys, i mean.)
He was telling me that he was gonna miss a lesson cos he had orientation camp to go for.
Me: Really? That sounds fun, good for you.
He: Yeah, gonna be an OGL. Do you know? There’s gonna be a new batch of nurses coming in. (I think NUS is offering a new degree in nursing now)
Me: Oh, now i know why you’re going!
He: Yes. Have you seen the girls in medicine? Tsk tsk.
Me: Hor, now what are you saying?
He: You ought to come over to the med library one day and look around.
Etc etc. Were we like that when we were 20? I don’t recall. Not that i’m very mature, cos i’m not, but sometimes when i talk to my schoolmates (who are 23) they don’t strike me as 23 at all. Sigh. I need to find someone who’s at least 1.74m, loves God, generally kind, motivated but not like overly driven, more easygoing than i, relatively responsible, is considerate to me, and gets along fabulously with me. Is that so difficult?
Anyway. I hope it stops raining so i can go swimming with Magdalen. I’ve been sick quite a bit recently and i hope this spate ends soon.
